BARRA 40R Electric Outboard

The BARRA 40R is a next-generation electric outboard designed to redefine the 15–50hp class. Delivering true 40hp-equivalent performance, it combines instant torque, silent operation, and zero emissions in a compact, integrated system engineered in Melbourne.

Weighing just 97kg including two removable 4.1kWh modules (8.2kWh total), the 40R delivers a practical mixed-use range of up to ~100km. Built around the Density PowerNet ecosystem, these batteries can be removed and used across 4x4 setups, camping, caravans, or home energy storage—extending value far beyond the boat.

Control and usability are central to the platform, with advanced digital systems replacing traditional mechanical limitations:

  • -5° to 60° trim and tilt with integrated launch control for fast, effortless planing
  • Digital steering (±90°) for precise, responsive control
  • Cruise control & no wake mode for efficient, regulated operation
  • Anchor mode with GPS position hold for hands-free station keeping
  • Bluetooth app control for low-speed remote manoeuvring

The system is available in both tiller steer and console control configurations, allowing it to suit a wide range of vessel types and layouts.

Designed for flexibility, the BARRA 40R is ideal for repowering boats currently running 15–50hp outboards, with the ability to install multiple units for higher output applications (e.g. 80hp+ setups).

Onboard power and charging are fully integrated:

  • 12V 100A Anderson output to run electronics, lighting, and accessories
  • 48V input/output system enabling ~1-hour fast charging
  • External battery expansion via plug-in PowerNet modules for extended range

The result is a clean, powerful, and highly adaptable electric propulsion system—built not just for marine use, but as part of a broader, modular energy ecosystem.

Premium digital helm featuring drive-by-wire steering and throttle for precise, responsive control without mechanical linkages. Includes dual 8” touchscreens displaying speed, power, SOC, range, and drive modes, alongside integrated infotainment with Bluetooth 5.3 lossless streaming, DAB+, and a 300W DSP-tuned 2.1 amplifier. Digital steering enables smooth ±90° control, enhanced low-speed manoeuvrability, and seamless integration with cruise control, no wake mode, and GPS anchor hold - delivering a refined, intuitive driving experience.
